Why am I being blocked from accepting a booking?
Helpr sets limits on how much care a family can book with a single provider.
- These limits are part of how the platform works and are applied automatically.
- They help ensure families can use their employee benefit without becoming household employers under federal tax guidelines.
How limits work:
There are a few limits that may affect bookings:
- Limits based on the tax period (quarter and year)
- Limits based on the family's available benefit hours
U.S. Tax period limits:
There is a maximum dollar amount per tax quarter and per tax year a family can pay a single provider through Helpr. Currently, these limits are:
- $1,000 per tax quarter
- $3,000 per tax year
These limits are subject to change. For the most up to date information, see the IRS Household Employee Tax Guide (Publication 926).
What happens when a limit is reached:
- You will not be able to accept a booking, even if you're available
- You may not be able to continue working with the same family through Helpr for a period of time
- Once the limit resets, the family may be able to book with you again
Have questions?
- If you have questions about how to file your taxes or report your income, we recommend you consult a tax professional.
